Photos from International Yarn Bomb Day

This year as alot of you know was the first International Yarn Bomb Day.
I realized that I never shared photos from it on here. So here are some of mine.
Made up a mess of masks and pompoms and headed downtown.

(theres a pompom on the door knob)

There where others in town. Some I have been able to tack down some I havnt. One bomber or bombers I want to find out more about is who did the tree sweater downtown with the scarfs.

Love this idea, its a little book to sign in.

I found this bit of awesomeness wile looking for more statues. Saw a bright bit of color as I was going up a little hill. Even from that far away I knew what it was and took off running. xD
Its the first tree sweater/cozy I've seen in town that I didnt put up.

There where other yarn bombs, but in different parts of town.

OH! In other news, a friend of mine that loves to yarn bomb moved back to town. Things should be getting more colorful. >:)

Grandma's Beads

Lookie! My Mom gave me something awesome that was my grandmothers. These beads came from my dad's mom. (oh why does such a crazy lady have to have such mad skills, maybe i can find that photo of her at her pipe organ she rebuilt)
Like a lot of things in life. This starts with one thing and ends with something else. Takes a sec to explain.  :)

First it started with a baby. Then family going and seeing the baby.
To explain something first, my family is spread over 3 states. We are in Washington, Bro is in Oklahoma and Sis, Mum and the rest are in Oregon.

Everyone in Oregon made plans to see the baby in Oklahoma. We couldnt... (poor)
A few weeks before them heading out I got a call asking if the trip was payed for would we come down to cat sit for my sister. It was Mom, feeling bad about us not being able to go but knowing someone was needed to watch a small army of kittys.

During the call she said that she found some of grandma's beads. Which at the time I thought she was talking about the weird plastic ones she had later in life. In any case Mom said she wanted me to have them. In truth I wasn't so sure I wanted them... In a nutshell I was thinking of the wrong beads.

The  night before they left Mom came to me and left on the table two bags, a small coffee can and a old old candy box. She made a comment that I should wait until after they left so I could have some time to enjoy them.

I walked over and looked. I opened up the box and knew right away what i was looking at. In these bags, candy tin and can, where the old glass beads I wasn't allowed to handle when I was a child. 99% of these are over 70 plus years old.

I opened the containers, like they would break with just a touch. Opening little bags and looking at the skill that went into these things.  One bag held necklaces, and an other held beaded leaves.

What was in the candy tin.
No idea how long it took to make some of this stuff.

One of the craziest things she ever made where her beaded purses.

Im really excited to get these things. And dont worry all my feelings aren't hurt from getting to see the baby yet. If things work out we may get to go at Christmas time. Which between you and me gives me more time to finish gifts. :)

In yarn, randomness and this time, awesome beads.

I'm baaaack!!!

Sorry everyone for being gone for so long!
I'm still alive but I've let the blog lurk un-updated for months. Well no more!!!
I'm going to challenge myself to update at lest once a week. So keep dropping by to look for new goodies.
Theres going to be more going on here then just yarn bombing (still a lot though ;) ).
But going to make this more a normal blog about what random things are out there.
If nothing else i going to work at making this thing fun to read.

Oh! Almost forgot! Along with the updates, new kind of posts and etc. There are going to be some GIVEAWAYS!!!!
Craft Supply's, Random stuff, Old school patterns. :)
etc, etc :)

So a lot to come. :) And open to ideas so feel free to post here or find me on face book. (yarnbomb genny or

My Birthday yarn bomb photos!

Here are the photos from my late night yarn bombing party! :D
As others around the world were out making their towns more colorful, me and a friend (plus one friend she kid napped) spent our time being what we are... weird :D

The order of my hits!

Birthday @ 4:30.
Hanging out at Hearth and yarn bombed a lamp.

After a thing of coffee @ Atticus went to game night then ran off with a friend to go on her first yarn bombing party :D
(oh and her friend she kidnapped, hes behind the tree hiding from the camera)

10:30 ish11ish, something ish
River Front Park, The Runners

Thank you Spokane for having such awesome random public art work. And to the guy who made the runners thank you too, you made my birthday fun. xD
All the running statues are naked, at lest this one isn't anymore.

Love this shot
Had a little helper with a spiffy hat

First tree cozy woohoo!

you will see this blue thing later

Size 50 knitting needles + birthday yarn party = no more pink yarn in my apartment! yes!!

Last one of the night.

The smoke is from us breathing in the cold cold air... or the thing is haunted
After the fun in the park we left and dropped off her poor friend that had to put up with us and we went to a market to grab some snacks and I had to do a special yarn tag.

In the mess of photos I've gotten from around the world one set i thought was funny were the ones of the apple, pear and potato wearing hats. (look at the post before this to see photos)

So in honor of them I give you bananas with scarf!

Thank you so much to Flora Nora for spending my birthday with me and for thinking of
bringing your camera!

And thank you everyone that took part or are still taking part (sillys) !!!!!

(what do you all think anyway, please comment)

Photos from world wide yarncrawl!

Thank you everyone that took part in my birthday party.
It really meant a lot to me that so many would take part, and I was blown away by how skilled and gifted everyone was in the making and placement of yarn bombs!

Me and a friend went out on my birthday and yarn bombed stuff 95% of it was done were it was dark so my cell phone camera couldn't take photos. Happily she thought to bring her camera. ^-^;
But I don't have them yet but I'll make a new post later after I get them! :D

Here are some of the photos I've gotten from around the world
Enjoy :D

My First one!
When i got this a day or two before my birthday, I was so happy. I felt like if no one else did it or posted photos that was ok.
I was aglow :)
